Due to the unpredictability of the weather and the exact timing of flower season, we're unable to schedule dates for these sessions in advance. If you're interested in either of these mini sessions, please complete the registration of interest form on this page and we'll get in touch with you when a suitable date becomes available.

We ask that you're able to be flexible and available for a session at fairly short notice whenever the weather and flower season align.

Daffodils

Daffodils usually appear around the second week of March and stay in bloom through to April. We aim to book these sessions as late as possible in the season so that the weather has time to warm up but before the blooms start to look too tattered. It's definitely a balancing act and it's not always easy to get right. In 2023 we went from snow at the beginning of March to sunshine and Daffodil photoshoots 2 weeks later before being rained off for the rest of the season!

We'll be on weather watch as soon as the first buds appear and try to give as much notice as possible once a promising date presents itself.

Daffodil sessions take place at either Belle Vue Park or on the grassy area near the Chartist's memorial on the Cefn Road/Chartist Drive roundabout in Rogerstone (known locally as the What! roundabout) - whichever location has the best display.



Bluebells

These sessions take place in the meadows of Sirhowy Valley Country Park, usually at some time during May.

Please note that since Bluebells have a much shorter flowering season than Daffodils, we cannot always guarantee that these sessions will take place.. Unfortunately 2024 was a complete write-off. We had about 2 days of Bluebells in bloom before torrential rain came in and knocked them flat. We'll be watching the weather closely this May and keeping everything crossed that 2025 is kinder to us !!!

Due to there being a very small window of opportunityfor these sessions, we may need to notify you at short notice when a suitable date comes up. We also advise that although the meadows at Sirhowy are beautiful, the path down from the carpark is very steep and slippery. It's not suitable to negotiate with a buggy or for those with limited mobility.
